My son and I live in a major metropolitan city.

We love living in the city because we have access to everything.

This city has a wonderful transportation system, so I don’t own a car. We are able to use public transportation to get to anywhere we would like. My son takes the public transportation to and from school every day, and when he wants to go out on the weekends, he relies on the same transportation system to get him around. It’s more convenient this way because the public transportation runs frequently, so he is never waiting too long for a bus or a train. The buses and the trains are air conditioned in the Summer and are heated in the Winter, which is better than what I can say for my son’s school. It only gets heat, but no air conditioning during the Summer. Recently, the school board have been approving new HVAC systems for various schools throughout the state, but my son’s school has yet to be approved for a new HVAC system. The building is pretty old and was built back in the early 1900’s before central air conditioning became popular, and the cost to install ductwork would be enormous. Furthermore, it would be a complicated process so many buildings are left as is. My son plans on attending Summer school this year and I am not sure how he will handle the heat. If this Summer is anything like it was last year, it will be blistering hot. I wish there was another alternative for these schools to have air conditioning.
