This strategy goes such a long way toward being able to adjust to the heat of summer

I figured out that living down here comes with a certain amount of HVAC cooling. There is simply no avoiding that fact at all. But that’s fine. To try and live through this sort of heat and humidity without the cooling comfort of residential HVAC would be a deal breaker for me. There’s no way I could manage the four months from June through September without air conditioning. I’m from the north and our summers were not even close to this. Then again, we have a winter up north that isn’t even close to what I now get to enjoy. And trust me, I don’t miss that gas furnace one bit. But when I first came down here, I sort of overloaded on HVAC cooling the first couple of years. I really didn’t know any better to be frank about it. Thankfully, a native of the area showed me the ropes when it comes to balancing the need for air conditioning with accepting the heat a bit. These days, I don’t go right for the thermostat when the temperatures begin to rise in the spring. Instead, I leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh air while my body begins to acclimate to the higher temps. This strategy goes such a long way toward being able to adjust to the heat of summer. And it really helped me to be able to keep the thermostat in the low 80’s during the summer months. Now, I’m going the extra mile with cooking only outside on the grill and hanging my clothes up instead of running the dryer all day which just heats the house up even more.
