We had to get a rental car earlier in the week when our car got put into the shop.
It’s always something, isn’t it? This week for us the car kept making weird noises and we finally just gave up and left it overnight at the garage.
Luckily, the garage offers rental cars to people who are getting repair work done at their place of business and so we got a free rental to use for the week. They told us that the repairs were going to be extensive on our vehicle so they gave us one to use to get to work and run errands. Well, I know the old saying is don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, but this rental car smelled just terrible. It smelled like a skunk mixed with old bathwater. We weren’t sure how to improve the indoor air quality inside the car, but we didn’t want to breathe in there for a week! We ended up putting in a new air filter because my husband had an extra on his workbench in the garage. That helped a little bit, but the little air filter wasn’t powerful enough to get rid of that terrible smell. We ended up just parking the car in the driveway while it was running, and we turned the heating on full blast while the windows were down. After about half an hour of that, we turned off the heating and turned on the air conditioning full blast instead. After we stuck some dryer sheets in front of the A/C vents, it started to smell just a little bit better. I guess you really take certain things for granted sometimes, like the way your car smells!
