My sister Pam and I have decided to pool our resources and buy a rental cottage together at our local beach.

That way, we can stay there whenever we want and when we aren’t there, we will just rent it out.

It will be a great investment, we think. Of course, we have never done this sort of thing before and so we hired an HVAC technician to come in and check everything out before we signed all of the papers. The place had a really old oil furnace for a heating system but it also had a wood burning fireplace. The fireplace was the central focal point of the living area and it was just beautiful. The mantle and the whole front of the fireplace is covered in beautiful river rock. It really is visually stunning and the fireplace is one of the reasons that we decided that this was the cottage that we wanted. The HVAC technician said that the furnace was in pretty good condition for an older oil furnace, but he informed us that there was no central air conditioning in the cottage at all. The fact that there was no A/C was going to be an issue for us because we both really like to keep it cool inside the house in the summer. The HVAC technician suggested that we think about installing a ductless mini split air conditioning unit because we wouldn’t have to run any new ductwork. That made sense to me, because in our opinion, the cheaper the better! We are still going to buy the rental cottage, and hopefully the A/C will work for us!
