When I was younger, I spent a lot of time as an HVAC technician.
I knew it was the perfect job for me because my dad was one, and he suggested that I followed his lead.
It was a great job, though by being an HVAC serviceman for so long, I didn’t have the chance to acquire any other job skills. I was a heating and air conditioning technician for over 20 years, and that was time well spent because I loved my job. At 65, I retired and have been living the good life ever since. For years after retirement, I would keep the same schedule I had when I was an HVAC service technician – twice per year maintenance for the HVAC system, frequent cleanings, and occasional part repairs. I could fix all air conditioning issues regardless of how complicated because of my previous experience. I could still install brand new HVAC equipment all on my own. However, now that I am closer to my mid-70s, I am finding it harder to service the A/C unit properly without experiencing constant aches and pain in my joints. Therefore, I have been relying on a younger A/C technician to complete the repairs I need. He is a nice young lad from a local HVAC company, and he looks like he is fresh out of high school. He does an amazing job repairing both my heater and the A/C unit, and I am happy to see other technicians who take HVAC as seriously as I do. With him I know that my HVAC is receiving the best service, and now that I am older, I will just let the younger generation repair my equipment – with age comes wisdom.
