I honestly hadn’t seen my father for most of my life. Even when I was graduating from high school, I thought he would be there. More recently, he decided to pay me a visit. I asked him why he came to visit. He laughed and said something about how he wished he could visit more often. He claims that he has always been busy with work and other important things. I don’t truly know what is more important than keeping up with your family, especially your own children. I kept my guard up because I suspected he had some reason to be there, like he needed money or something. He asked me about my HVAC career and if I had a lot of experience with working on heating and cooling systems. I thought that was a given since I was an HVAC professional afterall. He even asked me if I installed the HVAC system in my own home, which I didn’t, but I did maintain it regularly. I could kind of tell where he was going with all this. I suspected that he either wanted me to help him install a new HVAC at his home or he wanted me to help repair an HVAC that he already had. He started telling me how he found this old HVAC in the junkyard and he was trying to get it to work… I thought this was ridiculous when he asked if I would take a look at it. Against my better judgment, I went there to work on the thing, and it was missing too many components to actually work. I told him he should just invest in a quality HVAC system, not go looking for something cheap at a junkyard that wouldn’t last him more than a season.
