It has taken me a bit to fully get accustomed to living up north.

I still call it up north even though I’m living here now for 6 years.

When your from the south, it’s always just up north when referring to the region I know call home. I wasn’t so sure how I’d adjust to winter. Where I lived all my life prior to moving here, all we needed for winter was a heat pump. And even then, I think I could count on both hands the number of times the heat pump kicked on during the winter for heating. In fact, prior to moving here, I’d never even seen a gas furnace much less lived in a house that needed that sort of HVAC heating. So I knew right off the bat that this sort of winter was going to be different. Indeed, it’s been a challenge. But once the serious shock of that first winter was done, I’ve gotten a bit better with winter each year. But one thing that didn’t improve until this past winter was the cost of the HVAC heating. That was something that I really wanted to change so I got to work last fall. All I had to do was follow the step by step process laid out on the website of our local HVAC company. It wasn’t super expensive and it was all very intuitive thanks to the way the HVAC professionals laid it all out. So I spent a few weekends of my time this fall sealing the house tight and the results were amazing. I was for sure hoping to save on HVAC heating but I also had the coziest winter inside my house as well.
