The most insulting part is, the climate down south has actually been cooler than the air temperature up here

A few months ago when I was planning my trip to come visit my family back home I was trying to be strategic with my timing. Because I reside in the south these days and they are up in the midwest, I thought it was a smart idea to make my trek when outdoor air quality was most beneficial to me. I enjoy a cooler summer climate than the south provides. As you know, it’s a semi tropical environment with extreme heat and humidity all day. This means, I can’t easily do my favorite activities of gardening and hiking outside. The air quality is simply too poor or long excursions in the dangerous overheated sun. I honestly thought I could timeout my trip so that I avoided the southern summer and appreciated the relatively cooler air temperature up north for a few months. Well, the outdoor climate has not cooperated with that idea. From the moment that I arrived up north, the outdoor air temperature has been overwhelmingly hot. It’s been humid, sunny, and miserable everyday. This means, the indoor air quality has also been rather difficult to deal with. I don’t want to abuse my mom’s HVAC system but it is extremely uncomfortable to work indoors all day with stagnant heat and humidity. The most insulting part is, the climate down south has actually been cooler than the air temperature up here. I knew that it was going to be a somewhat hot and humid trip to see my family… But I never thought it would be so overheated and uncomfortable that even the cats are laying on the AC vents and avoiding the sun.
