Have you seen that episode of Black Mirror where they discuss the inevitable social ranking system that we are going to develop some day? Everybody walks around with some kind of five star rating hovering over their head.
This review system is controlled by every other citizen on Earth.
They can determine if you are a pleasant person to interact with or not using a simple phone app which effectively determines everything else you can do in life. This terrifies me. I have never wanted to be individually rated before. Until… My central heating and cooling repair shop started asking for individual customer reviews on their heating and cooling technicians. As a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation repair technician I see a lot of individual clients each day. I am always going from central heating and cooling repair job to professional air conditioning installation service, day after day. This means I interact with a lot of persnickety clients who have a lot to say about their indoor air temperature control. I got pretty nervous when the shop started asking for HVAC technician feedback following routine heating & cooling service appointments. Who knows what these people are going to say about me. It turns out, I am an extremely pleasant heating and cooling technician to interact with. I have consistently had the highest ratings out of all of the HVAC repair technicians at the shop. This means, I am given the best HVAC repair jobs and I have made several raises in the past 6 months. These days, I’m reconsidering my opinion on social ranking.
