Communication skills are really important whenever you’re hiring an HVAC company to do anything for you.

I learned this the hard way earlier this year. It was spring, and the weather outside was heating up. We knew that we needed to have our air conditioning system checked out by an air conditioning professional before the summer came and the temperatures got any hotter. We always seem to have some issue or another with our air conditioning system, and so we wanted to do some preventative maintenance on it this year. We called up a local HVAC company that we hadn’t used before because they were advertising an air conditioning tune up special on our local radio stations. The guy who I talked to to make the appointment sounded a little gruff, but we made the appointment anyway. Come to find out, this particular heating and cooling company was a one man show. The gruff guy who made the appointment for me was the same guy who showed up in my driveway in the HVAC van. He came in and started to check out my air conditioning system for me, but he barely spoke two words to us the entire time that he was there. I thought it was very strange. He ended up fixing the air conditioning system, but we never knew exactly what he did. Plus, when we got the bill in the mail, it was way more than we thought it was going to be. Communication skills are important when you need an HVAC company, that’s for sure.
