Our hotel’s heating system wasn’t working last week whenever we were out of town for a work trip.

We always like to stay in hotels whenever we are out of town for business.

My husband and I work together and we have to travel usually once or twice a month for our business. I have found over the years that most hotels have those built in HVAC systems that are set into the walls right below the hotel room windows. Usually this type of HVAC unit seems to work okay, but sometimes you end up in a hotel room that doesn’t seem to have very good indoor air quality. That’s what happened last week when we were traveling. The hotel seemed like it was going to be a good place to stay, but whenever we got up to our room on the third floor, we noticed that the temperature in the room was really cold. We thought at first that the thermostat on the HVAC unit had just been turned down too low and that housekeeping had forgotten to turn it back up. But after we adjusted the thermostat on the HVAC unit, the fan started to run but no heating came out. Air came out, but the room did not start heating up at all. We even gave it a few minutes because we thought that it might start working on its own, but that never happened. We actually ended up having to call the front desk to tell them that our heating system wasn’t working in our room. Normally, I would have just stayed and used an extra blanket, but that night, it was freezing cold outside!
