Grandma lived in a little brick cottage style house. By cottage style, I meant a one room cottage style. It consisted of a large room that was designed to be the living room, dining room, and bedroom all in one with a little cooking area towards the back. It was actually cute, with a two person dining table and a day bed that served as bed and couch, Grandma’s little home was sufficient for her. I remember when Grandma’s air conditioner took its last breath. Grandma had used a window air conditioner to cool her home in summer and space heaters to heat her home in winter. When her window air conditioner passed away, I was sure that we could replace it with a window air conditioner that also had a heating element. But we found something even better. When Grandma and I went looking for a new air conditioner for her, we learned about a ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating system that is easy to install and energy efficient. The indoor component sits is attached to a wall or ceiling and Grandma can open that window again. Another good things is that it was easy enough to install that my handy husband was able to do it. It was as easy to maintain as the window air conditioner and Grandma won’t need the space heaters anymore because the mini-split also provides heat. I was pleased that Grandma and I were able to find that ductless mini-split for her and I am happy that she is so pleased with it.
