When your sons play travel baseball like mine do, you have to get used to the hot temperatures in the summertime really quickly.
Sometimes the weather is just ridiculous and you feel like you are sitting around inside of a furnace watching a baseball game. That’s how it was for me last week. We had a huge heat wave and the temperatures were in the high nineties for days at a time. It was really horrible and at home, I had the central air conditioning turned way down so that the house would stay cool. I also had all of the blinds and curtains pulled down to keep the sun out. But that’s not exactly an option when you’re out at the ball field. I always take my canopy with me so that at least I will have some shade, but that doesn’t keep me from wishing that I had a portable air conditioning unit to set up while I’m watching the game. I always sit in the car with the A/C blowing on high until the very last minute when the game starts. And then in between innings when the outfield is warming up, I run over to my car and turn the A/C on again. The whole game, I sit there and dream about getting back in the car to turn the air conditioning back on. I guess I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to the hot temperatures in the summer. I just want to sit at home in the air conditioning. Maybe one day my boys will be in the major leagues and I’ll be able to watch them play on TV instead of at the burning hot baseball field during the summer.
