I am one of those people who keeps their thermostats low all year round.
I like having my home on the cooler side. I can always put on a sweater, but I can’t take a lot of clothing off when it is hot. I don’t like it when it is too warm. I have a difficult time waking up on those warm days. My body wants to stay in bed and not move. When it is too warm I feel lazy. I like being able to get up in the morning and step out onto the cool hardwood. My toes tingle from the cold, and my body shivers, but I know I’m awake. I run to the shower and turn on the warm water, hoping to get rid of the goose bumps. When I get out of the shower, I revel in the feel of the cool air as it hits my wet skin. even in the winter, I keep the thermostat low. I feel like I am helping to save the environment. I’m using less oil in my furnace. My thermostat stays set at sixty-five all year round. If I feel a bit chilly, I put on a sweater and I move. Moving is a good way to get warm. In the summer, I know it probably isn’t good for the environment to keep the thermostat at sixty-five, but it is good for me. It is my energy bill and I make sure it is paid. As long as I can wake up in the morning and be alert, I don’t care what anyone says. I’ll keep my house cooler than most and be comfortable and able to be alert when I get up in the morning.
