It’s not easy being a homeowner for the last 15 years or more.
Fortunately for my wife and I, we have not had to take a loss on any of ours homes.
But, as I am understanding things, that is an increasingly rare circumstance. Homeownership is just not the can’t lose financial benchmark it once was. The value of home ownership is debatable in some areas. And that is quite a change of perspective for people in my age group. The home we just sold required a lot of upgrades to things like the HVAC and the kitchen. And still, we didn’t make near the profit we did on the house prior to this one. However, we simply had to sell that house. The kids were gone and it was just too much for my wife to handle. It seemed like anytime we had some free hours, there was something to do with the house. We were just over all of that. However, we weren’t quite sure what we wanted to do next in terms of of a house. So, we decided to simply rent a condo for a year to figure it out. This also allowed us the opportunity pare down our belongings. What I wasn’t expecting was to have to deal with such subpar HVAC comfort. This has been a real disappointment. The HVAC is either old, under sized or both. It has a really hard time just meeting any sort of reasonable demand. And the rental company won’t send anybody but their handyman to work on it. Perhaps this HVAC situation will hasten our decision to move on to the next chapter of our lives.
