After having my medications stolen from my kitchen table, by the HVAC technician, I refused to let anyone into my home.

When they sent another HVAC tech out to the house to do another check on my air conditioning unit, I refused to let him into the house without verifying his ID.

He gave me his identification and I kept the door secured until I called the HVAC company. They told me he was one of their technicians and it was safe to let him in. I have become very wary of anyone posing as maintenance or even police, if I don’t have ID in hand and I can verify that it is real. I am in my seventies and I hear too much about how people are kept talking at the door while someone comes in the back door and robs you blind. I have my windows locked and the rear door has a security lock on it. Before someone could have the door opened, the hidden camera would have taken their picture and the police would be on the way. Anything other than a key going into the lock will trigger my security system. That is why when I had the HVAC technician show up, I knew that he was up to no good. There was no reason for him to go into my kitchen. He was going to unlock the door, but I followed him and all he took was my medication. It didn’t matter that I was finally able to see his ID from the HVAC company, I could still tell he was up to no good. He was determined to get to the back door and me out of sight.
