I have watched many businesses close down over the last few months due to the pandemic.

Along our street, the most affected were clothing shops, jewelry stores, mobile stores, and anything generally not considered an essential service.

When the directive was passed for residents to stay at home, I couldn’t have been more grateful to stay open, and I am more particularly appreciative and thankful for my HVAC business. At first, I was worried because I wasn’t sure staying open was the right thing. I kept wondering who would come to buy my HVAC products for sale such as the air purifier. But for a moment, I forgot that this was a service business that offers HVAC maintenance, and performs HVAC installation of the quality air conditioner. All I needed was an extra HVAC serviceman who understands the HVAC system, to do the rounds once the calls started coming in. It took a while for a business to pick but this also allowed me to train one new employee more about HVAC and have him run errands related to delivery and pick up of heating and cooling products, updating the air conditioner service plan for clients, and schedule appointments for the repairman. This gave me a chance to re-evaluate my business and assess how best to minimize costs and run the central air conditioning business efficiently. Although business picked after the shutdown, the fact that I remained open as an essential provider since people constantly rely on HVAC technology to cool and heat their homes, I took advantage of the opportunity to educate residents on the need to maintain products with reasonable seer ratings between 13 to 25, so that they can save more energy and maintain efficient systems.
