My parents live in an older home & there are some features that absolutely irritate me, but for starters, I hate how squeaky the floors are.
Over the years, I’ve l received which floorboards make the most noise & how to maneuver around them, however unless they upgrade the subfloor & install new hardwoods, the floors are going to remain squeaky.
The minute thing that bothers me about our parents home is the outdated HVAC system. The HVAC plan is at least 13 years outdated & it acts prefer it too. Whenever the furnace or air conditioning runs, you can hear a loud humming noise & it sounds prefer it’s toiling absolutely hard to cool the house. When I snuck a glance at the utility bill on the counter, I couldn’t guess the amount of money our parents were spending on heat & air alone! Along with the HVAC system, I despise our parent’s temperature control. It’s just as outdated as the HVAC system, if not older, & it’s a dial. The temperature you set the temperature control to is up on the top of the dial, & the temperature it undoubtedly is inside is on the bottom, then modern temperature controls have a screen that makes it easy to learn & adjust the temperature settings. The dial temperature control is absolutely sensitive & it’s almost impossible to read. If I try to change the temperature in the middle of the night, I have to bring a flashlight just to light it up! If I have a hard time seeing it, there’s no telling how hard it is for our parents to see it.
