Moving is never simple or straight-forward is it?.
This is something that I have had to do over & over & it never gets better.
There actually isn’t very little that is worse than having to make your family feel that there is another long transfer coming. This time it was even worse because I had to leave for our new position right away. My wife & I actually had to discuss it at great length because I was 100% ready to have this latest transfer be the deal breaker. I was willing to walk away. But her cooler head prevailed. Fortunately, I was able to get some short term housing in the new area. I have a lot of time & energy invested in our work & our wife pointed out to myself and others that this would be the last time we have to move. Also the kids are still young enough that they will be able to readjust to new schools & all of that. But with the short term rental housing, I am able to have my entire family out to the new region. This month to month lease allows myself and others to supply a cozy home for our wife & family to transition to. My wife can take her time getting the house out on the market & we can let the kids finish the year as well. I guess it will be a lot easier for them to start afresh in a new year. And the furnished house acts as a home for myself and others while I wait for the rest of the family to join me. Having the fully furnished rental will also allow for a much easier transition. Now all of us can be included in finding our new home.
