74 degrees in one house was a much odd temperature than 74 degrees in another house
My father was in the Army when I was growing up, so we moved around alot. It seemed like we never stayed in one place for more than a year. Every base was different and so were the houses we lived in. Most of the time we just lived in base housing. It was easier that way, and some bases had nice houses! Other houses were infested with mold and bugs and falling apart. Another thing that I found interesting were the Heating and Air Conditioning systems in all of the different houses. Every single one of them had central heating and cooling. But this heating and cooling system was a total crap shoot. Some houses had new Heating and Air Conditioning systems that were well maintained and worked well, but those were a rarity though. In most cases the Heating and Air Conditioning systems were ancient. There was a lot of dust in the air ducts, and they broke down from time to time. I remember this one house where the furnace didn’t work. It only was lukewarm no matter how high you set the temperature control. In another house the air conditioner broke down 6 times in just under 2 years. Each time it broke down, we had to wait over a week before it was fixed. Then there were the temperature controls. We had dial temperature control or analog temperature controls and no one was like the other. 74 degrees in one house was a much odd temperature than 74 degrees in another house. I don’t suppose if that is because the temperature controls weren’t calibrated or if it had to do with the design of the house.
