Once my lease is up next month, I am definitely moving my business to another commercial space
I have my own writing/editing business. I started my business about a year ago and recently my business has expanded, so I rent a commercial office space now. We have enough room for everything now and I have about 10 people working for me. I have enjoyed this space very much and it has all I could want for my business. There are plenty of windows for natural light, separate rooms for offices, and an awesome break room and balcony. One thing I have complained about from the beginning is the HVAC system. From the first day I moved in, I noticed that the air conditioning doesn’t seem to be as cool as it should be. Even though I have the thermostat set to 74 degrees, the air conditioner never cycles off. It just stays running all day, like it’s struggling to keep the office at a constant temperature. My electric bills have been through the roof. I tried installing fans to make it feel more cool. I hung blackout curtains over all of the windows to let in less light and heat. I tried everything, including contacting the owner of the commercial space I’m paying money to rent every month. Unfortunately, it seems that the owner has every excuse in the book to not fix our unit or even pay to have someone come inspect the whole HVAC system. I’m fed up and at this point, I am about ready to pay to have a HVAC company come out here on my own. But, I shouldn’t have to do that since HVAC maintenance and repair is included in my lease contract. Once my lease is up next month, I am definitely moving my business to another commercial space. My employees and I don’t deserve to have to work in these types of conditions. Until my lease is up and I move the business, I’ve given my employees the option of working from home. I want them to be comfortable and don’t want their productivity to be affected by the poor HVAC system.
