I really must say, it’s not always easy being a writer. While we certainly have our moments of brilliance, there are those times when you get stuck and you fall into a horrible episode of writer’s block. I’m sure that all writers have experienced this at some point or another, some much more than others. I personally fall into these bouts of writer’s block, but I have a secret that always helps me out. I actually decided to invest in a fireplace so many years ago. I came to learn that the sound of the flames and comfortable heating allowed me to drive into creative ideas that generate in my mind’s eye. I don’t always write in front of the fireplace, but it’s definitely where I get some of my most excellent ideas for writing. Whenever I start to fall into what seems to be another writer’s block experience, I just make sure to get some wood and build a fire in the fireplace. If I don’t have any wood split, it actually helps for me to think of ideas while I am splitting the wood for the fireplace. It’s always nice just thinking about how comfortable I’m going to be as soon as I get that fireplace going. This is why one of my favorite times to write is in the winter or during cold nights. Usually during the warm season, I will bring out my faux fireplace so I can at least pretend I’m enjoying a real fireplace. It’s honestly not the same, but it does help more than you would think.
