You have to have patience to be an HVAC technician.
I remember when I first went to college to become an HVAC technician, I had in my mind that the biggest part about my job would be fixing air conditioners, furnaces, and air purifiers. I remember having a class about customer service, and learning the different things you will face with HVAc customers as an HVAC technician. I thought nothing of that class and figured I needed to focus most on learning how to work on central air conditioners, smart thermostats, and furnaces. Now that I am an HVAC technician on the field, I wish I had paid more attention to that class in HVAC college. One customer gave me a really hard time about fixing her window air conditioner. I knew what the problem was, and I was in the middle of fixing the window air conditioner when she interrupted and said I was doing it wrong. I told her that I am an experienced HVAC technician and that I had fixed this same problem on a window air conditioner hundreds of times. The woman insisted that when her husband was there to fix the window air conditioner, he did it a different way. I snapped back and said, “that’s why this window air conditioner keeps breaking” apparently that wasn’t a good answer for me so she told me to leave the window air conditioner alone and to leave. She left me a bad review on every HVAC website online. I have had so many things like this happen while being an HVAC technician, if only people trusted me to fix their central air conditioners and furnaces, life would be better.
