There is no doubt that the south is overrun with great blue skies, good weather and comfortable temps.
Well, the comfortable temps part in for any other time than the summer.
Those four months aren’t comfortable in any way, shape or form. The heat and humidity can be really tough to manage from June through September. It’s really all about just staying in the HVAC cooling comfort wherever you are during the peak heating hours. The HVAC cooling is on nearly all of the time no matter where you go. However, once October rolls around, it’s a completely different picture altogether. The next 8 months or so are just glorious. A nice thing about fall here is that I don’t have to call the HVAC tech in order to get the furnace ready for the long winter ahead. Actually, the fall is just a great preview for the mild winter. The winter temps are such that I rarely have to wear more than a long sleeved shirt. But when there is a chill, all I have to do is move the thermostat from cooling to heating. The HVAC heat pump takes care of the rest! The heat pump is so versatile that this is all it takes to go from cooling to heating our home. The heat pump simply reverses the refrigerant flow in order to provide heat to our home. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around that fact. Yep, I’ll take a southern winter over a northern one every time.
